O-Ring Replacement
1. Before attempting any service that requires opening refrigerant lines or components to the atmosphere, refer to Handling Refrigerant R-134a Service Precautions , Handling of Refrigerant Lines and Fittings Service Precautions and Maintaining Chemical Stability Maintaining Chemical Stability.
2. Follow the instructions in Refrigerant Recovery for the unit being serviced.
3. Install new GM-approved service replacement air conditioning O-ring seals whenever a joint or fitting is installed. When the O-ring seal are provided on new replacement components, use these provided O-ring seals. Unless service replacement O-ring seals bearing the specified part numbers are used, excessive leakage of Refrigerant-134a may occur. Refer to the part number for identification.
4. Coat air conditioning O-ring seals with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil just before installation. Slip the air conditioning O-ring seals onto the flange tube in order to ensure proper locating and sealing. In order to prevent the possibility of swelling and a reduction in sealing effectiveness, do not soak the O-ring seals in refrigerant oil.
5. Examine O-ring seals and fitting before installation in order to ensure that the parts are not nicked or deformed. Replace nicked or deformed parts in order to prevent leakage.
