Power Steering Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

Tools Required
- J 25034-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Remover
- J 25033-C Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer

1. Remove the upper fan shroud.
2. Remove the fan.
3. Remove the lower fan shroud.
4. Remove the air conditioning compressor.

Notice: Do not hammer the pulley off the shaft. The pulley or the pump may be damaged.





5. Remove the power steering pump pulley as follows:
5.1. Install the J 25034-C.
5.2. Hold the nut (2).
5.3. Turn the pilot bolt clockwise (1).





6. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and the nut.
7. Place a drain pan under the power steering pump.

Important: Cap or plug the ends of the power steering hoses to prevent fluid loss.

8. Disconnect the power steering hoses from the pump.
9. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering pump.
2. Uncap the ends of the power steering hoses and install the hoses to the rear of the pump.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and the nut.
Tighten
- Tighten the power steering mounting bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the power steering nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

Notice: Do not hammer the pulley onto the shaft. The pulley or the pump may be damaged.





4. Install the power steering pump pulley as follows:
4.1. Place the pulley on the end of the pump shaft.
4.2. Install the J 25033-C.
Ensure that the pilot bolt is bottomed in the shaft.
4.3. Hold the pilot bolt (1).
4.4. Turn the nut (2) clockwise until the pulley is seated.
5. Install the air conditioning compressor.
6. Install the lower fan shroud.
7. Install the fan.
8. Install the upper fan shroud.





9. Fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid to the COLD/FULL mark. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System.
11. Inspect the power steering hoses for the following:
- Leaks
- Proper clearance
