Lateral Stabilizer Rod: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
Important: Disconnect the link at the rear axle tie rod, not at the height sensor arm. Use care not to bend or break the height sensor.
2. On models equipped with ALC, disconnect the height sensor link from the rear axle tie rod.
3. Remove the bolts or nuts from the rear axle tie rod.
4. Remove the rear axle tie rod from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the rear axle tie rod to the vehicle.
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Install the bolts and nuts to the rear axle tie rod.
Tighten the nuts to 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.).
3. On models equipped with ALC, install the height sensor link to the rear axle tie rod.
Notice: When reconnecting the link, take care not to bend or break the height sensor arm, and make sure the height sensor arm and link are properly oriented. Improper orientation will prevent the ALC system from operating properly, and can result in damage to the height sensor.
4. Lower the vehicle.
