Fuel Pump Pickup Filter: Service and Repair
Fuel Sender Assembly:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Relieve fuel system pressure, refer to Fuel Pressure Release.
2. Drain the fuel tank, refer to Fuel Tank / Fuel Tank Draining Procedure.
3. Fuel tank, refer to Fuel Tank / Fuel Tank Replacement.
4. Fuel sender assembly, refer to Fuel Tank Sender.
5. Note strainer (3) position for future reference.
6. Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer with the other hand.
7. Use a screwdriver to pry the strainer ferrule off the reservoir.
8. Discard the strainer.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New strainer to the reservoir.
2. Support the reservoir with one hand and grasp the strainer (4) with the other hand twisting the strainer into position.
3. Fuel sender assembly.
4. Fuel tank.
5. Refill tank.
6. Check for fuel leaks.
a. Turn ignition to ON position for 2 seconds.
b. Then turn to OFF for 10 seconds.
c. Turn the ignition to ON position.
d. Check for fuel leaks.
