Left Side
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair
3. Disconnect the left (front) spark plug wires.
4. Remove the automatic transaxle vacuum modulator pipe.
5. Remove the right engine mount strut at the engine.
6. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
7. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover bolts.
8. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
9. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover gasket.
10. Clean the valve rocker arm cover.
11. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket sealing surfaces on the cylinder head and the lower intake manifold.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install a new left (front) valve rocker arm cover gasket.
IMPORTANT: Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.
2. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the rear of the lower intake manifold (1).
IMPORTANT: Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.
3. Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint at the front of the lower intake manifold (1).
4. Install the left (front) valve rocker arm cover. Hand tighten the left (front) valve rocker arm cover bolts.
^ Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
5. Install the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve to the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
6. Install the right engine mount strut at the engine.
7. Connect the automatic transaxle vacuum modulator pipe.
8. Connect the left (front) spark plug wires.
9. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement Service and Repair
10. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
