Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: The bolts which attach caliper bracket to knuckles must be replaced anytime they become loose or are removed. In this application, tightening or loosening these special bolts which use an encapsulated thread compound, is not recommended. Failure to replace caliper bracket bolts after they have been loosened or removed may result in loosening of caliper to knuckle attachment, causing reduced vehicle braking ability, and may result in personal injury.
1. Remove the caliper.
2. Remove the caliper bracket bolts (2).
3. Remove the caliper bracket (1).
4. Remove the following components from the bracket (1):
- The boot bolts (2)
- The bushings
5. Inspect the bracket for cracks.
Replace the bracket if necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Lubricate the following components with silicone grease:
- The new bolt boots
- The new bushings
2. Install the following components into the caliper bracket (1):
- The bolt boots (2)
- The bushings
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the caliper bracket (1) with the bracket bolts (2).
- Tighten the caliper bolts to 185 Nm (137 ft lbs).
4. Install the caliper.
