Clutch Cable: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Loosen the clutch cable adjustment nuts A (3) and B (4).
3. Remove one nut (6) and the clutch cable (5) from the release lever (7) and the clutch cable bracket (2).
4. Remove the clutch cable (5) from the two clutch cable clamps below the radiator.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the clutch cable (1) from the upper clutch cable clamp (2) at the left front strut tower (3).
7. Remove the clutch cable clevis (3) from the clutch pedal shaft arm (2).
8. Remove the two clutch cable grommet bolts (1) and the clutch cable (3) from the vehicle from the engine compartment side of the bulkhead.
9. Inspect the clutch cable (1) for fraying or kinks. Replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the clutch cable (3) into the bulkhead from the engine compartment side; secure with two clutch cable grommet bolts (1).
Tighten the clutch cable grommet bolts to 8 Nm (70 inch lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the clutch cable clevis (3) to the clutch pedal shaft arm (2).
3. Install the clutch cable (1) into the upper clutch cable clamp (2) at the left front strut tower.
4. Raise and support vehicle.
5. Install the clutch cable (1) into the two clutch cable clamps (2) below the radiator.
6. Install the clutch cable (5) into the clutch release lever (7) and the clutch cable bracket (2); secure with the clutch release lever adjustment nut.
7. Lower the vehicle.
