Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure, refer to Fuel Pressure Release.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator (1).
4. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
5. Remove the two bolts (2) from the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail. Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel.
6. Remove the fuel pressure regulator (1) from the fuel rail.

Installation Procedure



1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the new O-ring (1).
2. Install the new O-ring on the fuel pressure regulator.
3. Install the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail.
4. Secure the fuel pressure regulator with two bolts and tighten to 8-12 Nm (6-8.5 lb ft).
5. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
6. Connect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
7. Turn ON the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
8. Turn OFF the ignition.
9. Check for any fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
