Coolant Pipe Replacement - Intake


REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the radiator cap.
2. Start the engine.
3. Operate the engine for 15 minutes.
4. Stop the engine.





5. Open the drain plug (3) on the radiator in order to drain the coolant into a container.





6. Loosen and reposition the four hose clamps (1).
7. Remove the following hoses from the coolant intake pipe (5):
^ The two bypass hoses (6).
^ The radiator outlet hose #1 (8).
^ The heater core inlet hose (4).

8. Remove one bolt from the coolant intake pipe support. Remove the coolant intake pipe (5) from the vehicle.
9. Remove the O-ring from the coolant intake pipe (5).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Position new hose clamps on the open ends of the following hoses before installing the hoses to the coolant intake pipe (5):
^ On the two bypass hoses (6).
^ On the radiator outlet hose #1 (8).
^ On the heater core inlet hose (4).

2. Install a new O-ring (7) to the coolant intake pipe (5).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the coolant intake pipe to the vehicle and secure the pipe with one bolt.
^ Tighten the coolant intake pipe bolt to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).

4. Install the following hoses to the coolant intake pipe (5):
^ The two bypass hoses (6).
^ The radiator outlet hose #1 (8).
^ The heater core inlet hose (4).

5. Position the hoses over the coolant intake pipe flares.
6. Secure with the four hose clamps.
7. Fill the radiator with an approved coolant.
