Master Cylinder Cover/Caps Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Before removing or installing any electrical unit or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with "live" exposed electrical terminals, disconnect the negative battery cable to help prevent personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or components. Unless instructed otherwise, the ignition switch must be in the "OFF" or "LOCK" position.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Clean the outside of the reservoir.
3. Disconnect the fluid level switch electrical connector.
4. Remove the reservoir cap and siphon the fluid from the reservoir.
5. Remove the reservoir pin (1) using a hammer and a punch.
6. Remove the reservoir (1) and the grommets (3) from the master cylinder (4).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new reservoir grommets (3) into the master cylinder (4). Lubricate the grommets with new, clean brake fluid. Make sure the grommets are seated properly.
2. Install the reservoir (1) to the master cylinder.
3. Install the reservoir roll pin (1) using a hammer and a punch.
4. Connect the fluid level switch electrical connector.
5. Refill the reservoir with brake fluid or equivalent.
6. Check for fluid leakage.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Bleed the brake system.
