Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Disable the SIR.
3. Remove the panel compartment from the vehicle.
4. Remove the 2 screws and set aside the hood release handle.
5. Remove the passenger-side SIR module from the vehicle.
6. Remove the console from the vehicle.
7. Remove the center trim bezel from the vehicle.
8. Remove the radio from the vehicle.
9. Remove the 4 screws and the knee bolster trim panel.
10. Gently pull the top portion of the knee bolster trim panel in order to release 2 retainers.
11. Remove the 2 bolts and the knee bolster (1) from the panel.
12. Remove the steering column.
13. Remove the panel cluster assembly.
14. Remove the heater control unit from the vehicle.
15. Disconnect the panel harness electrical connectors.
16. Remove the screw (1) that holds the left side of the panel support beam to the vehicle.
17. Remove the screw on the bottom left side of the panel.
18. Remove the support beam cover and the 2 bolts (2) on the left side of the panel (1).
19. Remove the support beam cover and the 2 bolts (2) on the right side of the panel (1).
20. Remove the left screws and the right screws (1) at the bottom of the panel compartment support.
21. Remove the 2 front speaker grills (1) and the panel upper center cover with a flat-bladed screwdriver.
22. Remove the front radio speakers.
23. Remove the 3 panel screws along the top of the panel.
24. Pull the panel from the support member.
25. Remove the panel from the vehicle.
26. Remove the power mirror switch from the panel, if equipped.
27. Remove the panel dimmer switch from the panel.
28. Remove the rear defogger switch from the panel, if equipped.
29. Remove the cruise control switch from the panel, if equipped.
30. Remove the rear wiper/washer switch from the panel, if equipped.
31. Remove the 4 defroster duct screws.
32. Remove the defroster duct.
33. Remove the side demister ducts.
34. Remove the 2 center vent duct screws and the center vent duct.
35. Remove the 2 center vent louver screws and the center vent louver.
36. Remove the locking tab screw.
37. Unclip the 2 locking tabs
38. Remove the left vent louver.
39. Unclip the 2 locking tabs and remove the right vent louver.
40. Remove the 2 harness loop screws.
41. Remove all of the harness loops.
42. Remove the panel wiring harness.
43. Remove the 14 panel screws and the panel support beam.
44. Remove the panel compartment striker screws and the striker from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. install the panel compartment striker to the panel. Secure the striker with the screws.
2. Install the panel support beam. Secure the support beam with the 14 screws.
3. Install the panel wiring harness. Secure the harness with the 2 harness loop screws and the harness loops.
4. Install the right vent louver by pushing the louver in until it locks into place.
5. Install the left vent louver. Secure the louver with the 1 screw.
6. Install the center vent louver. Secure the louver with the 2 screws.
7. Install the center vent duct. Secure the duct with the 2 side demister duct screws.
8. Install the side demister ducts to the defroster duct. Secure the defroster duct to the panel with the 4 screws.
9. Install the rear wiper/washer switch to the panel, if equipped.
10. Install the cruise control switch to the panel, if equipped.
11. Install the rear defogger switch to the panel, if equipped.
12. Install the panel dimmer switch to the panel.
13. Install the power mirror switch to the panel, it equipped.
14. Install the panel to the vehicle.
15. Push the panel in to the support member.
16. Install the 3 screws along the top of the panel.
17. Install the front radio speakers.
18. Install the 2 front speaker grills (3).
19. Install the panel upper center cover.
20. Install the left and the right screws (1) at the bottom of the panel compartment support.
21. Install the 2 right side support beam bolts (2) and the cover.
22. Install the 2 left side support beam bolts (2) and the cover.
23. Install the screw on the bottom left side of the panel.
24. Install the panel support beam screw (1) at the left side.
25. Connect the panel harness electrical connectors.
26. Install the heater control unit (3) to the panel..
27. Install the cluster assembly to the panel.
28. Install the steering column.
29. Install the knee bolster (1) to the panel. Secure the knee bolster with the 2 bolts.
30. Install the knee bolster trim panel (2). Secure the trim panel with the 4 screws.
31. Install the radio to the vehicle.
32. Install the center trim bezel (3).
33. Install the console to the vehicle.
34. Install the passenger side SIR module.
35. Install the hood release handle to the panel. Secure the handle with the 2 screws.
36. Install the panel compartment to the vehicle.
37. Enable the SIR.
38. Connect the negative battery cable.
