Park Brake Cable Replacement (Front Cables)


REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Complete the parking brake lever pin up procedure. Refer to Enabling the Park Brake Automatic Adjuster in Park Brake.
2. Loosen the parking brake cable at the cable adjuster.





3. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the rear parking brake cables.





4. Remove the parking brake release handle and the cable from the vehicle. Refer to Park Brake Release Handle Replacement in Park Brake.





5. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.





6. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the parking brake lever retainer.
7. Remove the rubber grommet from the cowl.





8. Remove the front parking brake cable from the vehicle.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the front parking brake cable through the vehicle.
2. Connect the rubber grommet into the cowl.





3. Connect the front parking brake cable to the parking brake lever retainer.





4. Connect the front parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.





5. Install the parking brake release handle and the cable. Refer to Park Brake Release Handle Replacement in Park Brake.





6. Connect the front parking brake cable to the rear parking brake cables.
7. Remove the pin from the parking brake lever.
8. Move the parking brake lever to the FULL up position.





9. Measure the threads on the equalizer. Adjust the threads to the following specifications:
^ Passenger/Cargo to 13 mm (0.511 in)
^ Cutaway/Uplifters to 21 mm (0.826 in)
10. Verify that the vehicle will hold position with the brake lever depressed.
