Fan Blade: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE^ Tools Required
- J 41240 Fan Clutch Wrench
1. Remove the upper fan shroud.
CAUTION: Do not use or attempt to repair a damaged cooling fan assembly. Replace damaged fans with new assemblies. An unbalanced cooling fan could fly apart causing personal injury and property damage.
2. Remove the fan clutch using the J 41240.
3. Remove the fan and fan blade clutch assembly from vehicle.
4. Remove the four bolts retaining the fan blade to the fan blade clutch.
5. Remove the fan from the fan blade clutch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the fan to the fan blade clutch.
2. Install the four bolts retaining the fan blade to the clutch.
^ Tighten the bolts to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the fan blade clutch assembly using the J 41240.
^ Tighten the fan blade clutch assembly to 56 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the upper fan shroud.
