General Information

Due to the nature of the magnetic detection devices in the module, the electronic compass may show "false" directions under certain circumstances and still be operating properly. Since the circumstances may vary, a general knowledge of how the compass functions is necessary to determine whether the customer-perceived malfunction is a result of special circumstances or a true system malfunction. Regardless of the problem, the first step in diagnosing the compass system is to calibrate it. If the problem persists after compass calibration, the following information regarding system operation may be helpful in determining whether the system is operating properly.
