Removal

Removal Procedures

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold duct and air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the throttle cable.





4. Disconnect the throttle cable support linkage.
5. Disconnect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
6. Remove the throttle cable support bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls.





7. Remove the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor.
8. Remove the EGR valve solenoid.
9. Disconnect the wiring from the upper intake manifold.
10. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the upper intake manifold.





11. Remove the upper intake manifold bolts.
12. Remove the upper intake manifold.





13. Remove the EGR injector.
14. Disconnect the wiring from the lower intake manifold.





15. Remove the fuel injector retainer bracket.





16. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator from the lower intake manifold.





17. Remove the fuel injectors.





18. Disconnect the fuel pressure connection fitting.
19. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the electronic ignition coil.





20. Remove the lower intake manifold nuts.
21. Remove the lower intake manifold.





22. Remove the lower intake manifold gasket.
23. Clean the sealing surfaces on the lower intake manifold and on the cylinder head.
