Valve Cover: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the air cleaner duct assembly.
2. Disconnect the throttle cable support linkage. Refer to Powertrain Management.
3. Disconnect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
4. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose from the engine.
5. Remove the crankcase vent valve (PCV) and pipe assembly.
6. Remove the rocker arm cover bolts.
7. Remove the rocker arm cover.
8. Remove the rocker arm cover gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean the sealing surfaces where the cylinder head and the rocker arm cover meet. Use a suitable cleaning solvent.
2. Inspect the sealing flanges of the rocker arm cover for distortion.
3. Install the new rocker arm cover gasket.
4. Install the rocker arm cover to the cylinder head.
5. Install the rocker arm cover bolts.
^ Tighten rocker arm cover bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)
6. Install the PCV and pipe assembly.
7. Install the power brake booster vacuum hose.
8. Connect the throttle cable support linkage.
9. Connect the cruise control cable assembly if the vehicle is equipped with cruise control.
10. Install the air cleaner duct assembly.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
