Driver Information System

The overhead console on some vehicles features a driver information system which provides the driver with trip information, including approximate fuel economy, fuel range, and average speed. Vehicles with this feature can be identified by looking at the switches to the left of the electronic display. Only vehicles with a MODE switch are equipped with a driver information system.

In the TRIP mode, pressing the MODE button will scroll through the following TRIP functions:
^ AVG ECON: The average fuel economy since the system was last reset.
^ INST ECON: Instantaneous fuel economy for the last second of driving.
^ RANGE: Estimated distance the vehicle can travel with the remaining fuel load, based on the fuel economy for the last few hours of driving.
^ FUEL USED: Amount of fuel used since the system was last reset.
^ AVG SPEED: The average vehicle speed since the system was last reset.

The system is reset by pressing the MODE and US/MET buttons simultaneously for at least two seconds while the system is in the AVG ECON, FUEL USED, or AVG SPEED mode. All three modes will be reset simultaneously, regardless of which of these modes the system is in when the reset is performed. Upon resetting the system, all functions will be displayed for one-half of a second.
