Cylinder Block Assembly

^ Tools Required
- J 35748 Fuel Pump/Oil Pressure Switch Installation Socket, Or Equivalent





1. Install new oil bypass valves.





2. Install the oil filter adapter using the following procedure:
(1) Install the oil filter adapter and the seal.
(2) Install the bolts to the oil filter adapter.
^ Tighten the oil filter adapter bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
(3) Coat the oil filter adapter pipe plugs with pipe sealant with Teflon GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent.
(4) Install the pipe plugs to the oil filter adapter.
^ Tighten the oil filter adapter pipe plugs to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).

NOTE: Do not use silicon tape as this will insulate the sensor from the engine block.

3. After applying a water base caulk to the sensor threads, Install the knock sensor into the cylinder block.
^ Tighten the knock sensor to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the fuel pump/oil pressure switch using fuel pump/oil pressure switch installation socket.
5. Install the oil gallery plugs.
^ Tighten the oil gallery plugs to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the cooling jacket plugs.
7. Install the cylinder block cooling drain plugs.
^ Tighten the cylinder block drain plugs to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
