Accumulator: Service and Repair









REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Place a drain pan under transmission oil pan.

1. Transmission oil pan with the bolts.
2. Transmission oil pan.
3. Accumulator cover bolts.
4. Accumulator cover.
5. 1-2 accumulator piston.
6. Oil seal ring.
7. 1-2 accumulator spring.
8. Spacer plate from the valve body gasket.
9. Valve body spacer plate.
10. Spacer plate to the case gasket.
11. 3-4 accumulator spring.
12. Oil seal ring.
13. 3-4 accumulator piston.
14. Accumulator piston pin.

Inspect
- The 1-2 accumulator cover for:
^ Porosity or damage.
^ Scored piston wall.
^ Plugged oil passage.
- The 1-2 accumulator piston and the 3-4 accumulator piston for:
^ Porosity.
^ Ring groove damage.
^ Pin hole damage.
- 1-2 accumulator spring and the 3-4 accumulator spring for distortion or damage.
- Spacer plate and gaskets for damage.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Accumulator piston pin.
2. 3-4 accumulator piston.
3. Oil seal ring.
4. 3-4 accumulator spring.
5. Spacer plate to the case gasket.
6. Valve body spacer plate.
7. Spacer plate to the valve body gasket.
8. 1-2 accumulator spring.
9. Oil seal ring.
10. 1-2 accumulator piston.
11. Accumulator cover.
12. Accumulator cover bolts.
- Tighten accumulator cover bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
13. Transmission pan gasket.
14. Transmission oil pan.
15. Transmission oil pan to the case bolts.
- Tighten oil pan bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
16. New transmission oil.
