Front Driving Axle (All Wheel Drive)

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Position a drain pan under the inner axle shaft housing.

1. Right drive axle.





2. Right inner axle shaft from housing.
A. Protect the end of the inner axle shaft housing and seal with a shop towel.
B. Insert a bent screwdriver into the inner axle shaft retaining ring slot.
C. Pry against shop towel and inner axle shaft housing to disengage inner axle shaft.
D. Use care in pulling the splined shaft through the seal diameter to avoid damaging the seal.








3. Inner axle shaft housing to support bracket nuts and washers.
4. Inner axle shaft housing.

Clean
- Sealing surfaces of inner axle shaft housing and carrier with a chlorinated solvent.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Apply a bead of sealer to carrier sealing surface.
2. Inner axle shaft and housing assembly.





3. Inner axle shaft housing to carrier bolts.
- Tighten bolts to 48 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
4. Inner axle shaft housing to support bracket nuts and washers.
- Tighten nuts to 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.).
5. Right drive axle.

Inspect
- Axle lubricant level and add as needed.

6. Lower the vehicle.
