In light of the complexity of the compass system and due to the extent of outside influences on its performance, the system should be thoroughly checked before performing repair service.

The compass system should be checked in an area free from potential interference such as in an open field and recalibrated to verify the existence of a problem.

Should diagnosis lead to the need for replacing the compass module, use the procedures for removing the overhead console and extracting the electronic compass module.
