Inspection Procedures

1. Inspect the exhaust pipes, seals, catalytic converter, and muffler for:
^ Cracked joints
^ Broken welds
^ Corrosion damage

NOTE: These could result in an exhaust leak.

2. Inspect the clamps, brackets, and insulators for cracks and stripped or corroded bolt threads.

CAUTION: The exhaust system, including heat shields, must be free of leaks, binding, grounding, and excessive vibration. These conditions are usually caused by damaged or loose flange bolts, seals, heat shields, brackets, or pipes. If any of these conditions exist, check the exhaust system components and alignment. Align and replace as necessary.
