Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with suitable safety stands.
4. Remove exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the EGR inlet pipe (left side of manifold).
7. Remove exhaust manifold bolts and the washers.
8. Remove the heat shield.
9. Remove the exhaust manifold.
10. Clean the mating surfaces on the manifold and the head.
11. Clean the threads on the exhaust manifold bolts.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the exhaust manifold.
2. Install the heat shield.
3. Install the manifold bolts and washers.
^ Tighten the bolts on the center exhaust tube to 36 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the bolts on the front and the rear exhaust tube to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the EGR inlet pipe (left side of manifold).
5. Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety stands.
6. Install the exhaust pipe to the manifold.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install the engine cover.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
