Brake Caliper: Description and Operation

CALIPER TYPE
The caliper is a single piston type, held in place by two mounting bolts. The caliper mounts to the steering knuckle in a way that allows it to move laterally against the rotor.

CONSTRUCTION
The caliper is a one-piece casting with the inboard side containing a piston bore. A square-cut rubber seal fits in a groove in the piston bore to provide a hydraulic seal between the piston and caliper bore.
