Self Test

The Antilock Brake System (ABS) performs two system self-tests automatically.

^ The first self-test is performed when the ignition is turned to RUN. Both the ABS ANTILOCK lamp and the BRAKE warning lamp will turn on for a few seconds, then they will turn off individually. If one of the lights stays on, it could indicate that either the ABS or base brake system needs attention.

^ The second self-test is performed when the vehicle begins to move and the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) cycles the hydraulic portion of the ABS. A noise from the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) may be noticed when this function occurs.
