DTC C0088 Circuit Diagram:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The red BRAKE warning lamp is supplied ignition voltage through the GAUGE fuse. The BRAKE waning lamp can be illuminated by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM), Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Module, Brake Pressure Differential Switch or by the Park Stoplamp switch. If a code C0088 sets, the EBCM will store the code in memory but will not disable the Antilock Brake System (ABS). If a code C0088 is in memory, the EBCM will not attempt to perform the bulb check at start-up.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING DTC
- High voltage on the BRAKE waning lamp circuit when expected to be low (lamp commanded on).
- Anything that keeps the BRAKE waning lamp circuit high when the lamp is supposed to be illuminated such as a short to voltage on circuit 680.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN DTC IS SET
- ABS is not disabled
- Code C0088 is stored in memory

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
DTC C0088 is typically set by a shorted BRAKE warning lamp, although it can be set from a short to voltage in the wiring between the lamp and the EBCM or a faulty EBCM.

DTC C0088 Diagnostic Chart:

NOTE: Number(s) below refer to number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

2. Observe the BRAKE warning lamp operation.
3. Check for a faulty EBCM or a short to voltage in circuit 680.
