STARTER MOTOR REPLACEMENT

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP MODELS

Remove






1. Negative battery cable.
2. Engine mounts and raise the engine.
3. Support engine.
4. Transmission mount and support the transmission assembly.
5. Starter to engine bolts.

- Rotate the starter for access. 6. Wires from the solenoid.

7. Starter from the vehicle.

Note: the location of shims (if equipped).

8. Shield from the starter.



Install

1. Starter with shims (if equipped) to the vehicle.

Tighten
- Starter mounting bolts to 43 Nm (32 lbs. ft.).

2. Shield to the starter.

Tighten
- Shield nuts to 12 Nm (106 lbs. in.).

3. Wires to the solenoid.
4. Transmission and mounts.
5. Engine and mounts.
6. Negative battery cable.
