Higher than Normal Engine Idle (Replace PCV Hose)
Models:
1994-95 Chevrolet and GMC Truck S Models
with 2.2L Engine (VIN 4 - RPO LN2)
CONDITION
Some customers may comment that the above vehicle has a higher than normal engine idle. This condition should be most noticeable during hot idle with the air conditioning off. The idle may be from 300 - 400 RPM above normal in park or neutral with a 5 speed manual transmission.
CAUSE
The PCV hose becomes disconnected and causes a vacuum leak.
CORRECTION
Replace the PCV Hose with GM Part Number 24575743.
Perform diagnostics found in the Driveability, Emissions and Electrical Diagnosis Manual. Make any adjustments that are required, or replace any inoperative parts.
If the PCV hose has been found to be disconnected during the visual inspection, replace the hose with part number 24575743. Refer to Section 11 in the applicable Driveability, Emissions and Electrical Diagnosis Manual for the PCV hose replacement procedure.
