Timing Chain and Sprocket
TIMING CHAIN, TENSIONER AND CAMSHAFT SPROCKETTiming Chain Tensioner:
Camshaft And Sprockets:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
Refer to "Engine Front Cover."
1. Timing chain tensioner bolts.
2. Camshaft sprocket, timing chain and tensioner at the same time.
3. Camshaft Position Sensor
IMPORTANT: Timing chain tensioner is spring loaded and requires some care when installing.
Timing Chain Tensioner Timing Marks:
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. While compressing spring, use a suitable tool (cotter pin, nail) and insert in hole (A) as shown in Figure.
2. Tensioner and bolts, do not tighten.
3. Align the crankshaft sprocket timing mark, the stamped circle, with the tab on the timing chain tensioner.
4. Align the camshaft sprocket timing mark, the 8 mm hole, with the tab on the timing chain tensioner.
5. Install the camshaft sprocket and the timing chain.
6. Camshaft sprocket bolt.
TIGHTEN
^ Tensioner bolts to 24 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
^ Camshaft sprocket bolt to 130 Nm (96 lb. ft.).
^ Remove tool used to hold tensioner spring compressed.
