Spark Plug: Service and Repair

TOOLS REQUIRED:
J 38757 Spark Plug Bore Corrosion Remover J 39294 Spark Plug Wire Remover.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Ignition key "OFF."
2. Spark plug wire boots from plugs using J 39294.
IMPORTANT
^ Some vehicles will require the use of a spark plug bore corrosion remover tool J 38757. mis will allow dirt and corrosion to be removed from around the spark plug for tool clearance. Use safety glasses when using compressed air to blow out loose dirt and corrosion prior to removing the spark plug.
^ Do not remove spark plugs when engine is hot.
^ Use a high clearance spark plug socket to prevent damage to insulators.
3. Spark plugs.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
CAUTION: Do not install spark plugs that are either "hotter" or "colder" than the heat range specified for the vehicle. Today's technology requires a specific plug heat range for each engine. Installing plugs of any other heat range can severely damage the engine.
1. Spark plugs. Tighten spark plugs to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
2. Spark plug wire boots onto plugs.
