Front Heater Core





HEATER CORE




































REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Two screws (1027) attaching RH windshield wiper transmission (1026) arm to windshield wiper frame (1025).
3. Move windshield wiper transmission (1026) arm aside to gain access to heater hoses.
4. Clamp and heater outlet hose (1076 or 1072) from heater core (1097).
5. Clamp and heater inlet hose (1053 or 1068) from heater core (1097).
6. RH I/P sound insulator panel pushin retainers (155), screw (159) and nut (158) from stud.
7. Carefully pull RH H) sound insulator panel (155) away from I/P
8. Floor (courtesy) lamp (157) from RH H) sound insulator panel (155).
9. RH I/P sound insulator panel (155) from vehicle.
10. Open I/P compartment door.
11. Three screws (1016) from bottom of I/P compartment insert (1015).
12. Three upper I/P compartment screws (1016) with two bumpers (1017).
13. I/P wiring harness connector from I/P compartment lamp and switch assembly.
14. I/P compartment (with door) (1015) from I/P.
15. Two screws (1085) retaining I/P lower extension housing (139) to I/P lower extension support bracket (1086).
16. RH I/P outer support (1088) to I/P lower trim pad attaching bolt (1089).
17. Position wedge between RH I/P outer support (1088) and I/P lower trim pad (134).
18. Heater control vacuum harness (130) from vacuum/electric solenoid assembly (104).
19. Two screws retaining vacuum/electric solenoid assembly (104).
20. Vacuum/electric solenoid assembly (104) from heater core cover (1091).
21. Six screws (131) and two clips (1100) from heater core cover (1091).
22. Heater core cover (1091) and seal (1094) from temperature case (1090).
23. Heater core lower bracket retaining screw.
24. Heater core lower bracket.
25. LH retaining screw from heater core upper bracket.
26. Loosen RH retaining screw from heater core upper bracket.
27. Adjust heater core upper bracket to allow heater core (1097) removal.
28. Heater core inlet/outlet tubes from tube/case seal (1096).
29. Heater core (1097) and seal (1094) from temperature case (1090).

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Heater core inlet/outlet tubes into tube/case seal (1096) and heater core (1097) and seal (1094) into temperature case (1090) (adjusting heater core upper bracket).
2. LH retaining screw to heater core upper bracket - do not fully tighten.
3. Heater core lower bracket with retaining screw.
4. Adjust positioning of heater core in temperature case to prevent any movement.

TIGHTEN
Heater core bracket retaining screws to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

5. Heater core cover (1091) and seal (1094) to temperature case (1090) with six screws (131) and two clips (1100).

TIGHTEN
Heater core cover screws (131) to 7 Nm (62 lb in).

6. Vacuum/electric solenoid assembly (104) to heater core cover (1090) with two screws.

TIGHTEN
Heater core cover screws (131) to 7 Nm (62 lb in).

7. Heater control vacuum harness (130) to vacuum/electric solenoid assembly (104).
8. Remove wedge from between RH I/P outer support (1088) and I/P lower trim pad (134).
9. RH I/P outer support-to-I/P lower trim pad attaching bolt (1089).

TIGHTEN
RH I/P outer support-to-I/P lower trim pad attaching bolt (1089) to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

10. Two screws (1085) retaining 1/P lower extension housing (130) to I/P lower extension support brackets (1086).

TIGHTEN
I/P lower extension housing-to-I/P lower support bracket screws (1035) to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

11. I/P wiring harness connector to I/P compartment lamp and switch assembly while positioning I/P compartment (1015) into I/P (with door Open).
12. Three upper I/P compartment screws (1016) with two bumpers (1017).
13. Three lower I/P compartment screws (1016).

TIGHTEN
I/P compartment screws (1016) to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

14. Close I/P compartment door.
15. Floor (courtesy) lamp (157) to RH I/P sound insulator panel (155) while positioning panel into I/P.
16. RH I/P sound insulator panel screw (159), nut (158) and push-in retainers (156).

TIGHTEN
RH I/P sound insulator panel attaching screw (159) to 3 Nm (27 lb in).

17. Heater inlet hose (1053 or 1068) to heater core (1097) and secure with clamp.
18. Heater outlet hose (1076 or 1072) to heater core (1097) and secure with clamp.
19. Two screws (1027) attaching RH windshield wiper transmission (1026) arm to windshield wiper frame (1025).

TIGHTEN
RH windshield wiper transmission arm-to-windshield wiper frame screws (1027) to 7 Nm (27 lb in).

20. Refill engine coolant.
