Warranty Policy Canada and U.S. Electronic Injection Pump

Electronic Injection Pump

A pump will be exchanged for a new same part number OEM unit for the first 12 months of ownership of a model year or until December 31, 1995. However, if the pump exceeds 50,000 miles (80,000 km) in the first 12 months, it will be exchanged with a "rebuilt" pump. During the remainder of GM's 5 year/100,000 miles (5/100), Canada 5 year/160,000 km (5/160 km) warranty, the exchange pump will be a same part number "rebuilt" unit.

Mechanical Injection Pump

In the United States the pump will be repaired (not exchanged) for the entire GM warranty period (5/100). In Canada, (5/160 km) the injection pump is exchanged for "rebuilt" same part number OEM unit.

Exchange Procedure

Electronic Injection Pump

The servicing dealer determines if the fuel injection pump requires repair by accurately performing the diagnostic checks on the 1995 Diesel EFI Diagnostic Work Sheet (Attachment). If the diagnostic checks lead to the pump, the servicing dealer contacts Technical Assistance for a case number. If Technical Assistance agrees with the diagnosis, a case number is assigned (which the dealer must have to obtain an exchange pump). The servicing dealer must exchange the pump at a participating Stanadyne Service Dealer.

The Stanadyne Service Dealer will require a completed copy of the diagnostic work sheet and a properly completed "GM Request for Warranty" claim form. The Stanadyne Service Dealer will then exchange the injection pump per the above warranty policies.

Mechanical Injection Pump

If diagnoses indicate the fuel injection pump has failed, the servicing dealer will contact a participating Stanadyne Service Dealer and arrange for injection pump repair (U.S.) or exchange (Canada). The Stanadyne Service Dealer will require a properly completed "GM Request for Warranty" claim form. The Stanadyne Service Dealer will then repair (U.S.), or exchange (Canada) the injection pump per warranty policies. Canada dealerships will have to fill out both a GM request for Warranty Repair Claim form and a Diesel EFI Diagnostic Worksheet.

If the defective pump is not returned at the time of exchange, the Stanadyne Service Dealer may invoice the servicing dealership up to $900.00 that will be cancelled if the pump is returned to the Stanadyne Service Dealer within 30 days. The servicing dealer is responsible for shipping costs to and from the Stanadyne Service Dealer.

The servicing dealership is authorized to charge for pump R&R, shipping charges and 0.2 hr administration.
