1985---87
Late production 1985 and all 1986---87 models with V6-262 engines are equipped with a one-piece oil pan gasket that replaces the four-piece gasket previously used. The one-piece gasket (P/N14081222) can be installed on all V6-262 engines and should be used during installation whenever the oil pan is removed.



Caballero & El Camino
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner.
2. Remove upper fan shroud.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then drain oil pan.
4. On V8 engines, disconnect AIR pipes from converter and exhaust manifold.
5. On all models, remove exhaust crossover pipe and converter as an assembly.
6. Remove starter and flywheel cover.
7. Disconnect transmission cooler lines at oil pan.
8. On V8 engines, remove engine mount through bolts. On V6 engines, loosen right bolt and remove left through bolt.
9. Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then lower oil pan. If crankshaft counterweights are blocking oil pan removal, turn crankshaft as necessary to facilitate removal.
10. Raise engine and reinstall engine mount through bolts to provide necessary clearance, then remove oil pan.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
