Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

MECHANICAL PUMP
1. Disconnect fuel lines and vapor return hose, if equipped, from fuel pump.
2. Remove fuel pump attaching bolts.
3. Remove fuel pump, pushrod, gasket and mounting plate, if equipped.
4. Reverse procedure to install, using a new gasket.

ELECTRIC PUMP
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove fuel tank.
4. Turn pump cam lock ring counterclockwise and remove fuel lever sending unit and pump assembly.
5. Pull fuel pump up into hose while pulling away from bottom support, then remove pump from rubber connector.
6. Reverse procedure to install, using a new O-ring.
