Power Steering Fluid Reservoir: Service and Repair




Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LS9)

Removal Procedure

1. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.




3. Compress the power steering gear inlet hose clamp (1).
4. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir.




5. Compress the power steering fluid cooler hose clamp (1).
6. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler hose (2) from the remote power steering fluid reservoir.




7. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir nuts (1).
8. Remove the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2).

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Position the remote power steering fluid reservoir (2) to the vehicle.
2. Install the remote power steering fluid reservoir nuts (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




3. Compress the power steering fluid cooler hose clamp (1).
4. Connect the power steering fluid cooler hose (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir and release the clamp.




5. Compress the power steering gear inlet hose clamp (1).
6. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the remote power steering fluid reservoir and release the clamp.
7. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
8. Fill and bleed the power steering fluid system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
