Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose/Pipe Replacement (LS9)

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716))
2. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) (Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement)Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) (Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement)




3. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers
4. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose (2) from the surge tank.




5. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fittings (1) at the engine.




6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fitting (1) from the radiator.
7. Remove the surge tank inlet hose assembly (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Note: Lubricate the inside diameters of the hoses with clean coolant prior to installation.

1. Install the surge tank inlet hose assembly (2) to the vehicle.

Note: Quick connect fittings must be pushed on, then pulled back to verify proper connector engagement.

2. Install the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fitting (1) to the radiator.





Note: Quick connect fittings must be pushed on, then pulled back to verify proper connector engagement.

3. Connect the surge tank inlet hose quick connect fittings (1) at the engine.




4. Connect the surge tank inlet hose (2) from the surge tank.
5. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp (1) at the surge tank using the J 38185 - Hose Clamp Pliers
6. Install the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (LS9) (Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement)Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (w/o LS9) (Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement)
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill)) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) (Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716))
