Propeller Shaft Slip Yoke Boot Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement).





Note: Mark the front propeller shaft to the slip yoke prior to removal of the boot. Failure to do so could cause the propeller shaft to be out of balance.

3. Mark the in the notch (1) in the front propeller shaft with the V (2) on the slip yoke.




4. Remove the propeller shaft boot (2) from the propeller shaft (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Ensure that the marks on the propeller shaft and the slip joint yoke are aligned





Note: When installing the boot on the propeller shaft or the slip joint, snap or click should be heard or felt.

2. Install the boot (2) on the propeller shaft (1).
3. Install the boot (2) on the slip joint (3).
4. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement (Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement).
5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
