Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
2. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster check valve (1) and hose assembly.
3. Position the check valve and hose aside.
4. Remove the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).




5. Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer bolt (1).




6. Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).




7. Remove the brake pedal assembly nuts (1).
8. Disconnect the brake booster pushrod from the brake pedal pivot pin.
9. Remove the power vacuum brake booster from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the power vacuum brake booster to the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the brake pedal assembly nuts (1) and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).
3. Connect the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal pivot pin.




4. Install the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).




5. Install the brake booster pushrod retainer bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




6. Connect the power vacuum brake booster check valve (1) and hose assembly.
7. Connect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
8. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
