Evaporator Tube



EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. Remove the brake pressure modulator valve bracket.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid level sensor.
6. Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
7. Remove the master cylinder from the brake booster and position aside.
8. Remove the engine vacuum line from the brake booster.




9. Use J 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose inlet clamp (3) and outlet clamp (2).
10. Disconnect the inlet heater hose (3) and the outlet heater hose (2) from the heater pipes.




11. Remove the A/C line coupling from the evaporator tube to receiver dehydrator tube (1).
12. Remove the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt (2).
13. Disconnect the receiver dehydrator from the evaporator tube.
14. Remove the block fitting nut that secures the evaporator tube to the A/C compressor hose assembly.
15. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the A/C compressor hose assembly.




16. Remove the block fitting nut (1) that secures the evaporator tube to the TXV.
17. Remove the transmission shift cable from the retainer above the heater hoses and position the cable aside.
18. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the TXV.




19. Remove the evaporator tube from the support clip (1) on the left fender rail.
20. Remove the transaxle fluid filler tube.
21. Disconnect the wire harness electrical connector from the A/C pressure sensor.
22. Disconnect the wire harness electrical connector C101 near the top of the left shock tower.
23. Remove the evaporator tube from the vehicle.
24. Remove the A/C pressure sensor.
25. Remove and discard the O-ring seals and seal washers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Replace the O-ring seal on the receiver dehydrator and A/C pressure sensor.
2. Install the A/C pressure sensor to the evaporator line.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the sensor to 4.7 N.m (41 lb in).

3. Replace the seal washers on the evaporator tube.
4. Install the evaporator tube to the vehicle.
5. Install the transaxle fluid filler tube.




6. Connect the evaporator tube to the support clip (1) on the left fender rail.
7. Connect the evaporator tube to the TXV.




8. Install the evaporator tube to TXV nut (1).

Tighten the nut to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

9. Install the transmission shift cable to the retainer above the heater hoses.
10. Connect the receiver dehydrator to the evaporator tube.




11. Install the A/C line coupling to the evaporator tube and receiver dehydrator tube (1).
12. Install the receiver dehydrator mounting bolt (2).

Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

13. Connect the A/C compressor hose assembly to the evaporator tube.
14. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to evaporator tube block fitting nut.

Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

15. Install the brake pressure modulator valve bracket.
16. Install the master cylinder to the brake booster.
17. Install the nuts to the master cylinder.

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




18. Connect the inlet heater hose (3) and the outlet heater hose (2) to the heater pipes.
19. Use J 38185 in order to position the heater hose inlet clamp (3) and outlet clamp (2).
20. Connect the electrical connector to the brake fluid level sensor.
21. Install the engine vacuum line to the brake booster.
22. Connect the wire harness electrical connector C101 near the top of the left shock tower.
23. Install the air cleaner assembly.
24. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
25. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
26. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
