Condition
Some customers may comment on an excessive squeak and/or a squeal noise from the front brakes while stopping, usually during light to moderate brake applications.
Correction
Install the new brake pad lining kit. Rotor friction surfaces must be returned to an unburnished condition.
Important:
The lining should NOT be replaced for a noise condition for vehicles built AFTER the VIN breakpoints shown.
1. Replace the front brake pads with P/N 15808204. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement - Front.
Important:
Disc brake rotors should only be refinished if they have adequate thickness to be refinished. Refer to Brake Rotor Thickness Measurement.
Brake rotors should NOT be refinished if one or more of the following conditions exist:
^ Inadequate rotor thickness
^ Thickness variation in excess of the maximum allowable specification
^ Excessive corrosion/rust and/or pitting
^ Cracks and/or heat spots
^ Scoring of the disc brake rotor surface in excess of the maximum allowable specification
2. Refinish the front rotors. Refer to Brake Rotor Refinishing.
3. Road test the vehicle and burnish the new front brake pads. Refer to Burnishing Pads and Rotors.
