Hood Latch Release Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
If the release cable will not operate the latch, access the hood latch by raising the vehicle and removing the front wheelhouse rear filler panel. Then trip the latch with a long screw driver.
1. Remove the right and the left hood latches.
2. Disconnect the release cable from the latches.
3. Remove the release cable from the retainers (1) on the plenum panel.
4. Reposition the cables so that the cables slide smoothly through the opening in the dash panel.
5. Remove the screws from the release cable handle.
6. Remove the release cable grommet from the dash panel.
7. Pull the release cables through the opening in the dash panel.
Installation Procedure
1. Route the cables through the opening in the dash panel, past the retainers (1) on the plenum panel, to the latches.
2. Position the latch handle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the screws which mount the hood release handle.
Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
4. Install the cable grommet through the slits in the carpet insulator and into the dash panel.
5. Connect the cables to the latches.
6. Install the hood latches.
7. Install the cable to the retainers (1).
8. Verify the operation of the latches.
