Steering Wheel Replacement

Tools Required
^ J42120 Steering Wheel Puller Legs
^ J1859-A Steering Wheel Puller
^ J42640 Steering Column Lock Pin

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the steering wheel inflator module.
2. Remove the horn electrical connector.





3. Install J42640 to the steering column.
4. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
5. Discard the steering wheel set nut.
6. Install J42120 and J1859-A to the steering wheel.
7. Tighten the puller center screw against steering column shaft until the steering wheel slides off the steering column shaft.
8. Remove J42120 and J1859-A from the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the steering wheel to the steering column, observing the alignment marks.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install a new steering wheel set nut.
Tighten the nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove J42640 from the steering column.
4. Connect the horn electrical connector.
5. Install the steering wheel inflator module.
