Hood Hinge Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Hood Hold Open Device Caution in Service Precautions.

Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.




1. Mark the location of the hinge on the hood and the rail using a grease pencil.
2. Remove the hood struts.




3. Support the hood in a partially open position so that access is provided to the forward bolt attaching the hinge to the hood.
4. Remove the bolts attaching the hinge to the hood.




5. Remove the nuts attaching the hinge to the front side rail.
6. Remove the hinge.

Installation Procedure




1. Align the hinge within the scribed marks on the hood.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts attaching the hinge to the hood.

Tighten the hinge to the hood bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




3. Align the hinge base within the marked areas on the side rail.
4. Install the nuts attaching the hinge to the side rail.

Tighten the hinge to the frame rail nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb in).




5. Install the struts.
6. Remove the support and carefully lower the hood.
7. Adjust the hood fit as necessary.
