Headlamp Washer Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices

1. Disable the SIR System.

2. Remove the following components from the steering column:
^ The lower trim cover screw

IMPORTANT: It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel to access the lower trim cover screws. The screws can be easily accessed by rotating the steering wheel.

^ The 2 lower trim cover screws (2) that are located beneath the steering wheel (1).




3. The steering column lower trim cover (6)




4. Remove the following components from the steering column:
^ The steering column upper trim cover screw (3)
^ The steering column upper trim cover (2)




5. Inspect the base (1) for damage. If damage to the base is observed, replace the turn signal, headlamp and windshield washer switch as an assembly.
6. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch electrical connector (2).

7. Remove the following components from the steering column:
^ The 2 screws (1)
^ The wiper/washer switch (3)

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE



1. Install the wiper/washer switch (3) to the steering column. Secure the switch with the 2 screws (1).
2. Connect the wiper/washer switch electrical connector (2).




3. Install the steering column upper trim cover (2) to the vehicle. Secure the trim cover with the screw (3).




4. Install the steering column lower trim cover (6) to the vehicle. Secure the trim cover with the 3 screws.
5. Enable the SIR System. Refer to "Enabling the SIR System" in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
