Shift Cables (Gear Shift Guide Case)

Gear Shift Guide Case Removal Procedure
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management
2. Disconnect the shift cables.
3. Remove the 4 gear shift guide case bolts.
4. Remove the gear shift guide case.
5. Remove the gasket.
6. Remove the 2 gear shift guide case bracket bolts.

Important: When removing the shifting bracket notice that there is a select lever bushing and that it must be replaced in its original position that it came in or incorrect shifting may occur.

7. Remove the gear shift guide bracket.

Gear Shift Case Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the gear shift guide bracket and the 2 bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.)
2. Install the gear shift guide case gasket.
3. Install the gear shift guide case and the 4 bolts.
^ Tighten the gear shift guide case bolts to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)
4. Connect the shift cables.
5. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Powertrain Management.
