Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Remove the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Restraint Systems, Knee Diverter.





3. Remove the key lock solenoid electrical connector (1) from the key lock solenoid.
4. Remove the steering wheel column cover screws and covers.





5. Remove the 2 screws (1) and the key lock solenoid from the ignition switch (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the key lock solenoid into the ignition switch (2). Secure the ignition switch with 2 screws (1).





2. Install the key lock solenoid electrical connector (1) to the key lock solenoid.
3. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Restraint Systems, Knee Diverter.

Important: Upon completion of the key lock solenoid installation, perform the following steps in order to ensure proper operation:
^ With the manual selector lever in the Park position, you can turn the ignition switch from ACC to LOCK position and you can remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
^ With the manual selector in any position other than Park position, you cannot turn the ignition switch from ACC to LOCK position.

4. Install the negative (-) battery cable.
