Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Remove the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Restraint Systems, Knee Diverter.





3. Remove the key lock solenoid electrical connector from the key lock solenoid (1).





4. Remove the 2 screws (1) and the key lock solenoid from the ignition switch (2).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the key lock solenoid (1) into the ignition switch (2). Secure the ignition switch with 2 screws.





2. Install the key lock solenoid (2) electrical connector to the key lock solenoid.
3. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

Important: Upon completion of the key lock solenoid installation, perform the following steps to ensure proper operation:
^ With the manual selector lever in the Park position, the ignition switch CAN be turned from ACC to LOCK position and the ignition key CAN be removed from the ignition switch.
^ With the manual selector in any position other than Park position, the ignition switch CANNOT be turned from ACC to LOCK position.

4. Install the negative (-) battery cable.
