Automatic Transmission-4 Speed-MS7

Removal Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J35534 Piston Cover Depressor

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the 6 left splash shield bolts and the left splash shield.
3. Remove the 1 bolts from the fluid cooler outlet pipe bracket.
4. Install the J35534 to the transaxle case using the fluid cooler outlet pipe bracket bolts and tighten the J35534 until the 2nd coast brake cover snap ring can be removed.
5. Remove the 2nd coast brake servo snap ring from the transaxle.
6. Remove the 2nd coast brake servo cover from the transaxle.





7. Remove the piston rod (1) from the transaxle.
8. Remove the 2nd coast brake piston (4) and the outer spring (3) from the piston rod (1).
9. Clean all servo components with solvent and dry thoroughly.
10. Inspect the servo bore for minor nicks, scars or other damage.
^ Remove minor nicks or scars with ultra-fine emery cloth.
^ Replace transaxle case if deep nicks or scars are found.

11. Inspect all servo components for minor nicks, scars or other damage.
^ Remove minor nicks or scars with ultra-fine emery cloth.
^ Replace transaxle case if deep nicks or scars are found.

Installation Procedure

^ Tools Required
- J36850 TRANSJEL(R) Transmission Assembly Lubricant
- J35534 Piston Cover Depressor

1. Apply J36850 to the 2nd coast brake servo piston seal.





2. Install the 2nd coast brake outer spring (3) and the piston (4) into the piston rod (1).
3. Install the piston rod into the transaxle.
4. Apply J36850 to the 2nd coast brake servo cover seals.
5. Install the 2nd coast brake servo cover into the transaxle.
6. Install the J35534.
7. Install the 2nd coast brake servo snap ring into the transaxle.
8. Install the fluid cooler outlet pipe bracket bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.)
9. Install the left splash shield bolts.
^ Tighten the left splash shield bolts to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
10. Inspect the transaxle fluid level and refill the transaxle as necessary. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure. Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure
