Ignition Switch

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: This vehicle has a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine whether you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, refer to Repair Instructions in Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming. Failure to follow the CAUTIONS could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.





1. Disable SIR system. Service and Repair
2. Remove the knee bolster trim panel and the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
3. Remove the three screws and the steering column lower trim cover (6).
4. Remove the one screw and the steering column upper trim cover (7).





5. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
6. Remove the two screws and the ignition switch (6).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the ignition switch (6). Secure with two screws.
2. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.





3. Install the steering column upper trim cover (7). Secure with one screw.
4. Install the steering column lower trim cover (6). Secure with three screws.
5. Install the knee bolster and the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
6. Enable the SIR system.
