Accumulator Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: When replacing the accumulator add 60 ml (2.0 fl oz) of refrigerant oil to the system.

1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the cruise control actuator motor, if equipped.

IMPORTANT: Cap the open fittings to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the refrigeration system.

3. Remove the suction hose (6) from the accumulator.
4. Remove the accumulator hose from the evaporator (1).
5. Remove the accumulator bracket bolt.
6. Slide the accumulator up and Out of the bracket.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install new O-ring lubricated with 525 Viscosity mineral oil.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Position the accumulator into the bracket and tighten the bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator bracket bolt to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).

3. Install the suction hose (6) to accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the suction hose to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).

4. Install the accumulator hose to the evaporator (1).

Tighten
Tighten the accumulator hose to 38 N.m (28 lb ft).

5. Install the cruise control actuator motor, if removed.
6. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
7. Operate the A/C system and test for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Leak Testing.
